Carnegie libraries visited: Lavonia, Georgia; Etowah and Harriman, Tennessee
I'm quickly learning that many of the women who helped establish, lead, and staff our nation's libraries leave faint trails. A boastful lot they are not. Smaller libraries, in particular, lack archivists. Still, when I enter each jewel box, I remember those who kept them well-polished (literally and figuratively) over the years.
